Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop IoT systems, including hardware selection, software integration, and scalability.
  • Implement and optimise microcontrollers, sensors, and edge devices to ensure seamless hardware and software connectivity.
  • Develop data pipelines for the collection, processing, and secure transmission of data between IoT devices, machines, and systems.
  • Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing IoT systems to ensure performance, reliability, and uptime.
  • Conduct testing and validation of IoT systems and components to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including software developers and maintenance engineers, to deliver practical IoT solutions.
  • Gather and analyse user requirements and translate them into practical and scalable IoT solutions.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in IoT, embedded systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in Python programming, with hands-on experience in device integration, data processing, or automation.
  • Experience with Single-Board Computers, particularly Raspberry Pi, and microcontrollers/microprocessors such as Arduino and ESP32.
  • Hands-on experience with IoT and device communication technologies such as MQTT, HTTP, RS232/RS422, and TCP/IP.
  • Hands-on experience in electronics prototyping, including wiring, circuit connections, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic proficiency in Linux, with basic knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret hardware and component datasheets.
  • Basic knowledge of databases and SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and C/C++ programming would be an advantage.
  • Ability to independently research and apply new technologies, with experience using 3D printers for prototyping being an advantage.
  • Willingness to deploy and maintain hardware in cleanroom environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, good teamwork, a positive attitude, and a passion for IoT systems and development. Willingness to share knowledge with colleagues.
