Senior Business Analyst (Calypso, Contract)

Main Responsibilities

  • Gather, assess, and document business requirements from multiple stakeholders to accurately capture the needs of the FX and Money Market operations in Calypso.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner (if applicable) to prioritize requirements and break them down into actionable user stories for the development team.
  • Convert business requirements into detailed functional specifications, outlining user journeys, data flows, and system behavior.
  • Partner with development teams to ensure software designs meet functional requirements and align with business objectives.
  • Offer subject matter expertise to developers to ensure full understanding of business workflows and user expectations.
  • Investigate existing internal or external solutions that may fulfill business needs, aiming to optimize resources.
  • Engage in design discussions, considering technical constraints, to ensure solutions are viable and consistent with system architecture.
  • Participate in functional testing phases and provide support during production to ensure the software meets quality standards.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of functional updates on existing production Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs).
  • Support Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) by contributing relevant user scenarios and assisting in functional test development.
  • Aid in deployment preparation by identifying necessary functional conditions and performing validations post-deployment.
  • Provide assistance and knowledge sharing to team members, including onboarding and mentoring of new joiners.
  • Ensure smooth integration of new software with the current IT infrastructure by working closely with the Functional Architect.
  • Contribute to the preparation of specifications, effort estimations, project planning, test scenarios, and comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications: 

Work Experience

  • Familiar with key operational components such as Static Data, Workflows, Confirmations, Settlements, SWIFT messages, Positions, Accounting, Corporate Actions, Filters, Reporting Frameworks, and Reconciliation processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments including FX, Money Market, and cash products, along with the full trade lifecycle.
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting standards such as HRF, NORIA, and MMSR.
  • Previous experience working with back-office systems.
  • Skilled in integrating and managing interfacing systems.
  • Proficient in requirement lifecycle management, including planning, monitoring, analysis, and design definition.
  • Hands-on experience acting as a functional bridge between onshore business teams and offshore development teams, supporting developers with business understanding.
  • Knowledgeable in various requirement gathering and management techniques, and well-versed in Agile and other software development methodologies.
  • Background in Capital Markets front-office or back-office systems such as Calypso, Kondor+, Summit, or Murex.

Functional Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge of operational modules such as Static Data, Workflows, Confirmations, Settlements, SWIFT messaging, Positions, Accounting, Corporate Actions, Filters, Reporting Frameworks, and Reconciliation.
  • Solid understanding of FX, Money Market, and cash instruments, as well as the end-to-end trade lifecycle.

Nice to Have

  • Practical experience with Calypso platform versions 14 through 18.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX, SQL, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience & Education Requirements

  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in Business Analysis roles.
  • Holds a Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, or related disciplines.
